SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROJECTS
Folkart embraces a new-generation mentality that gives back to its surrounding neighborhoods, districts and cities. As such, it supports Izmir’s sports, education, science and art activities each year and has a social responsibility budget of nearly $10 million.
Additionally, Folkart maintains socially sustainable brands. It is a completely smoke-free company and conducts projects with the health of its employees in mind.
Folkart Gallery is Turkey’s largest art gallery. It is set on an 800-square meter indoor exhibition space and makes culture and art accessible to all through its contemporary and international exhibitions.
On January 31, 2015, Folkart Gallery opened its doors to art lovers with “The Magic of Hands”, a collection by Prof. Dr. Hans Zilch that was shown in Turkey for the first time. The collection features the works of legendary artists whose work has shaped the art world. These included Pablo Picasso, Auguste Rodin, Salvador Dali, Eugène Delacroix, Le Corbusier, Man Ray, Joseph Beuys and Georg Baselitz.
Since then, the art space has made a lasting impression on locals and gained national renown within a short time.
Folkart Academy was established to provide fundamental acting classes to those striving to become actors or those who wish to utilize acting skills in their own profession.
The Academy became a hit in no time and aims to instill an appreciation for art in its students without charging a fee. The range of classes has expanded and now includes acting, modern dance, ballet, choir singing and folk dancing. Workshops have also been developed to find talented children and encourage them to enter art schools. This is one example of Folkart’s sustainable support of the arts.
